The Vision:
The vision of this festival is to bring and consolidate wellbeing practices that can be absent in a small-town. Merging the context of modern wellbeing, holistic health, and rural culture and community can allow wellbeing and new beginnings to ripple into the heart of Indiana and beyond.
One in five people live in rural communities and are more likely to suffer from diseases that are mostly preventable- access to professional health and wellness is one of the leading causes of this sad reality (The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2025).
This grass-roots festival is excited to bring holistic and modern wellness and resources to rural communities for the first time, this year of 2025. We hope to grow bigger and better each year, allowing more beautiful experiences, activities, and energy to emerge year by year.
This year’s festival flows with the heart of the water. Some of the proceeds will go towards purchasing a fountain for Tim Edwards who passed away in 2015.
“My hopes are to create a space for resources and healing- not only for our community, but to provide healing to the land, the water, and to the deepest parts of ourselves. Let it be felt -let it sink into the depths of us that need it the most- our hearts, into the earth, and down the river into every cell and community. We need it- the world needs it.
The more we can provide spaces like this into every crevice of our environment the more every living being and the world benefits from it.”
About Little Blue River Wellness Festival
Little Blue River Wellness Festival is located at the Sharp family campground in Rush County. This is a privately-owned family campground called Little Blue River Lake and Trailer Park. For four generations this land has been a stomping ground for the Sharp family.
Upon entering the space, the noise from common township dwindles. A walk through the campground invites a feeling of calming depth. Greeted by warm faces of subtle knowing, we can all expect a sense of connection here. The day allows for the saturation of support and purpose. Music fills the air until the night sky rises, and the sounds of campfire, frogs, and chirping crickets fill the void.
On the property you can find a small pond, a lake, and the property snuggled up right by Little Blue River.
About Little Blue River Yoga
Little Blue River Yoga is founded by Shyla Sharp, a Certified 500 Hour Trauma-Informed Yoga Teacher. Shyla is also a Trauma-Informed Facilitator. Each month Shyla facilitates Sister Circles in Rush County. She spends once a week with the local middle school grief support group teaching Trauma-Informed yoga and mindfulness to the students. Shyla has several certifications via SoulWork, some including: meditation, prenatal yoga, Ayurveda for Yoga Teachers, Restorative Yoga, Trauma-Informed Facilitation, and Mystical Sciences.
Student Testimonial:
“She teaches so that her students can transfer their skills beyond the mat to regulate themselves in everyday life. Such a valuable skill for everyone in today’s fast-paced, attention-deficient society.”
“Shyla’s guidance has helped me enhance my practice in ways that years of dabbling with apps has not. With an emphasis on the breath and body, she has helped me get out of my head, which is a major distraction during meditation.”
